St Augustine Lawn Care

St Augustine Lawn Care

Step 1: Early Spring

St. Augustine Weed & Feed

Apply in the early spring when the grass begins to green up and weeds are actively growing. Apply and water in. If the yard is dry, water the day prior to application. This is a slow release 15-0-4 fertilizer with 1% added Iron for a darker green. This has a very effective weed killer that kills existing weeds and also prevents new weeds from coming up for up to 2 months.

Step 2: Late Spring

Weed-Out plus Lawn Fertilizer

Apply in April or May. Apply when the lawn is wet, water in after 24 hours. This has quick and slow release 25-0-4 fertilizer that will feed up to 2 month. It also has a fully systemic broadleaf weed control, killing over 200 types of weeds. In areas where weeds are a problem, follow up with an application of FL Weed Free Zone10 to 14 days later. (see below)

Step 3: Summer

Lawn Food plus Iron

Apply in May or June. Apply and water in. This has a little quick release fertilizer for a fast green-up, but mostly slow release 24-0-4 fertilizer that will feed over 2 months. This also has 3% added Iron for a very deep, dark green that is long lasting.

Step 4: Fall

Winterizer

Apply in the Fall. Apply and water in. Also apply to adjoining trees and shrubs. This has a 10-0-14 fertilizer. Nitrogen is used as stored food for the winter, Potassium is used to increase cold hardiness and recover from summer stress. For additional weed control, apply Winterizer & Weed Preventer II. This has the same great fertilizer plus a weed and grass preventer. Water in.

Step 5: Early Winter & Late Winter/Early Spring

Hi-Yield Turf & Ornamental Weed & Grass Stopper

Apply in early winter and again in late winter/early spring in areas where weeds are a problem. Apply and water in, if you can't water in, do so within 3 to 4 weeks. This has no fertilizer, because you don't want to stimulate weed growth through the winter months when the St. Augustine is dormant, but it does have a weed and grass preventer that prevent crabgrass and other weeds from germinating.

Optional: Spring and/or Fall

Weed Free Zone

Apply in the spring or fall to kill established, actively growing, broadleaf weeds. This is a cool or cold weather weed killer, it works when others won't, down to 40°.
